HELP CENTRE

How can we help you?

Short questions and answers about how NikahDM works.

Account, sign-up and login

Joining, logging in, passwords and email verification

How do I join?

On the Join page, enter your name, email address, a password of at least 10 characters, your gender, your age (18–99) and your country, and accept the terms of use.

Right after that comes the step for uploading your main profile photo. Your membership is complete once this step is done.

Why am I asked to upload a photo after signing up?

Sign-up is not complete until you upload your main profile photo; Discover, Messages and the other sections open once the photo is saved.

  • Choose a JPG, PNG or WEBP photo of at least 200 × 200 pixels. If the file is too large, the screen tells you the maximum size allowed.
  • Only upload a photo of yourself. Using someone else’s photo can lead to your account being permanently banned.

You can fill in other details such as your intention, city and a few words about yourself later on the Edit Profile page.

How do I log in? What does “Keep me signed in” do?

Log in with your email address and password on the Log in page.

If you tick “Keep me signed in”, you stay logged in on this device even after closing and reopening the browser. Don’t tick it on a shared or someone else’s device, and log out when you’re done.

I forgot my password. What should I do?

Enter your email address on the Forgot Password page. If an account exists with that address, a password reset link is sent by email. The link is valid for a limited time; if it expires, you can request a new one on the same page.

Note: Email sending is currently switched off, so this email cannot be sent at the moment.

What does email verification mean? Does it verify my identity?

No. Email verification only shows that the email address you signed up with belongs to you and can be reached. It does not verify your identity, your age or the details in your profile. So judge the details of an “email-verified” member with your own care as well.

You can use the site without verifying; unverified accounts see a reminder at the top of the page. The “Email-verified members” filter in Discover only looks at this. You can see your status under Settings › Account.

Note: Email sending is currently switched off, so this email cannot be sent at the moment.

How do I change my email address or password?

Both are under Settings › Security and ask for your current password.

  • When your password changes, your sessions and “keep me signed in” logins on other devices are closed; you stay logged in on the device you are using.
  • When your email address changes, your account shows as “not verified” until the new address is verified.

Profile details and photos

Viewing and editing your profile, and photos

What is the difference between viewing my profile and Edit Profile?
  • Profile (top menu): shows your profile page much as other members see it. On your own page you also see all your photos and the details that only you can see.
  • Edit Profile (in the menu that opens when you tap your profile picture): the form where you change your details. Changes you save appear on your profile page.

Use the “View My Profile” link on the edit page to switch between the two. Go to Edit Profile

How many photos can I upload? Which ones do other members see?

You can upload up to 5 photos: 1 main photo and 4 optional photos.

All your live photos are shown on your profile page to members who can see your profile. Your main photo also appears on Discover cards.

Photos are shown only to logged-in members; visitors who are not logged in cannot see them. Manage My Profile Photos

How do I change my main photo or delete a photo?

On the Manage My Profile Photos page, each photo has Make main photo, Change and Delete options.

  • Your only photo cannot be deleted; use “Change” to replace it.
  • If you delete your main photo, the oldest of your remaining photos becomes the main one.
  • Photos with a niqab are accepted. Only upload photos of yourself.
What details can I add to my profile?

On the Edit Profile page you can fill in your intention, city, a text about yourself, what you are looking for, your preferred age range and various lifestyle details. None of these fields are required; ones you leave empty appear to others as “Not specified”.

Some fields that may hold special-category information are shown with a lock; filling them in needs a separate privacy consent, and they cannot be filled in while the consent step is not open. Your “Profile Strength” percentage goes up as you fill in your details.

Who can see sensitive details such as Headscarf / Niqab or religion?

Headscarf / Niqab (women only), religion and faith, polygamy, ethnic origin, income and citizenship are optional and need a separate privacy consent; while the consent step is not open, no new answers are saved.

  • If you give consent, your answers are visible only to you by default.
  • You can separately allow other members to see them and allow their use in searches; ethnic origin, income and citizenship are never used in searches.
  • If you don’t share a detail, its row is not shown to other members at all.
  • An answer you saved earlier is not deleted and is visible only to you; you can delete it via “Manage privacy choices” on the Edit Profile page.

These details do not count towards Profile Strength.

How do I change my name, age, country or city?

Under Settings › Account:

  • You can change the name shown on your profile once every 30 days. Your member number stays the same.
  • You can update your age, country and city. You can also change your city on the Edit Profile page.

For changing your gender, see the “Settings, language and privacy” category.

Discover, filters, likes and matches

Finding members, filters, likes and matches

Who do I see in Discover?

Discover only lists members of the opposite gender whose account is active and who have completed their profile setup.

  • People you have blocked, or who have blocked you, are not shown.
  • Members who have frozen their account are not shown.
  • Staff accounts are not listed as members.

Go to Discover

How do the filters work?

With Quick Filters and Detailed Filters in Discover you can choose:

  • Age range, country and city
  • New members (joined in the last 14 days), members online right now, members with a photo only, email-verified members
  • Detailed fields based on profile details

Fields whose options haven’t been added yet cannot be selected. Members who set their online status to “Hidden” don’t appear in the “Online members” filter. Ethnic origin, income and citizenship cannot be filtered; details such as religion and values only match if their owner has separately allowed their use in searches.

What are likes and matches?

Tap the heart on a member’s card or profile to like them. The person you like sees you in their Activity › Liked Me list.

If they like you too (or you had already liked them), you match: “It’s a match” appears and a match badge shows on the cards.

You don’t need a match to send a message; see the “Messaging and inbox” category for the messaging rules.

What happens if I take back a like?

Just tap the filled heart again; it works the same way in Discover, on profile pages and in Activity.

  • If you haven’t matched, the like is removed straight away.
  • If you liked each other, a confirmation window opens first. If you confirm, your like and your match are removed.
  • Your conversation and messages are not deleted; you can keep messaging as before.
  • The other person’s like for you stays; unless they take it back, they remain in your “Liked Me” list.
What does “Pass” do on the “Like & Pass” screen?

A profile you pass is not shown to you in the Discover lists or on the Like & Pass screen for 30 days. Nothing about this is shown to the other person. When the period ends, the profile may appear again.

Messaging and inbox

Message statuses, archiving and removing from your inbox

Who can I send messages to?

You can message active members of the opposite gender; you don’t need to have matched. Start a chat with the message button on a member’s profile or card.

  • If there is a block between you (in either direction), messages cannot be sent.
  • Messages cannot be sent to frozen or unavailable accounts.
  • A message can be up to 2000 characters. If you send messages too quickly, you will be asked to wait a moment.
  • A conversation is created when you send the first message; opening a chat screen without writing shows nothing to the other person.
What do “Sent” and “Read” mean?

A status appears under your own messages:

  • Sending…: the message is on its way.
  • Sent: the message has been saved and is in the other person’s conversation.
  • Read: the other person opened the chat and the message appeared on their screen.
  • Not sent: it couldn’t be saved because of the connection or a rule; you can try again.

Read status does not depend on your online status: even if you are “Busy” or “Hidden”, messages you read show as “Read” to the other person. There is currently no option to turn off read status.

How do new messages arrive? Will I get notifications?

While the site is open, new messages arrive without refreshing the page, and the Messages counter in the top menu updates by itself.

There are currently no phone (push) notifications or email notifications for new messages. You need to open the site to see your new messages.

What do the Inbox, Sent and Archive tabs show?
  • Inbox: conversations where the other person has written you at least one message.
  • Sent: conversations where you have written at least one message.
  • Archive: conversations you have archived.

A conversation where you both wrote can appear in both Inbox and Sent. You can search the list by name and use the “Unread” filter. Go to Messages

What is the difference between archiving and “Remove from my inbox”?

Archive

  • The conversation moves to the Archive tab; your messages stay with you.
  • When you or the other person writes a new message, the conversation leaves the archive by itself. You can also choose “Unarchive” at any time.
  • In the Messages list, use Edit to select and archive several conversations, or archive from inside the chat.

Remove from my inbox

  • The messages up to that moment are no longer shown to you; this cannot be undone.
  • The other person keeps seeing their own copy.
  • If a new message arrives, the conversation reappears with only the new messages.
  • It is done from the menu inside the chat.

Neither action is reported to the other person, and neither deletes any message from their side.

Can I edit or delete a message I sent?

No. Sent messages cannot be edited or deleted from the other person’s conversation. “Remove from my inbox” only clears your own view. So don’t share personal details such as your phone number, address or bank details before trust has been built.

Activity and favourites

Likes, profile views and favourites

What is in the Activity section?

Activity in the top menu has seven sections:

Lists are sorted from newest to oldest. On a computer they use page numbers; on a phone more items load as you scroll down. On a phone, the Favourites, Visitors and Likes buttons at the bottom also open these lists.

How do favourites work? Does the person I add see it?

Tap the star on a member’s card or profile to add them to your favourites; they then appear in your My Favourites list. Tap the star again to remove them.

Yes, they do: the person you add sees you in their “Favourited Me” list. Adding a favourite does not create a match.

How does “Viewed My Profile” work?

When a member opens your profile page, they are added to this list. Even if the same person opens your profile many times, they appear as a single card with the date of their latest visit.

Viewing your own profile and profile reviews by staff accounts are not added to this list.

If I’m “Hidden”, do the profiles I view see it?

Yes. “Hidden” only hides that you are online and your last login date; it does not hide profile visits.

If you open a profile while hidden, that person sees you in their “Viewed My Profile” list; only your online / last login information is not shown. There is currently no option to hide your visits.

Can I remove someone from the lists?
  • I Liked: tap the filled heart to take back your like.
  • My Favourites: tap the star to remove them from your favourites.
  • Liked Me, Viewed My Profile, Favourited Me: these entries are the other person’s actions and cannot be deleted one by one. If you block someone, they disappear from all your lists.
What are System Notifications? When do they count as read?

System Notifications are announcements and updates sent to you by the NikahDM team. Activity such as likes, visits and favourites is not shown here but in the other Activity tabs.

The number of unread notifications appears as a separate counter in the avatar menu and the mobile menu. Viewing the list does not mark anything as read; a notification counts as read when you open it or press “Mark all as read”. Notifications are not deleted or archived. No phone (push) notification or e-mail is sent. System Notifications

Safety, blocking and reporting

Blocking, reporting and meeting safely

How do I block someone? What happens when I do?

Tap Block on the member’s profile page or in the chat screen menu.

  • You can no longer see each other’s profiles or message each other.
  • You no longer appear in each other’s Discover or Activity lists.
  • Old messages are not deleted.
  • No separate notification is sent to the other person; however, if they try to write to you, they will see that they cannot send messages.
How do I unblock someone?

In the Settings › Blocked members list, tap Unblock next to the person. You can also unblock from the chat screen menu.

The person you unblock can message you again. Unblocking does not mark old messages as read and does not create a new conversation or notification.

How do I report a member? What happens next?

Tap Report on the member’s profile page or in the chat screen menu, choose a reason (spam or advertising, harassment or insults, fake profile, asking for money, inappropriate content, other) and, if you like, write an explanation of up to 1000 characters.

  • Your report is recorded. The person you report is not told about it.
  • No time frame is promised for reviewing reports, and you are currently not notified about the outcome.
  • If you feel uncomfortable, you can also block the person without waiting.
What should I keep in mind to meet people safely?
  • Don’t share personal details such as your phone number, address, workplace or bank details before trust has been built.
  • Be careful with anyone who asks for money or financial help, and report them.
  • Email verification is not identity verification; profile details are what the member says about themselves.
  • Meet for the first time in a busy public place, and let people close to you know.
  • If you come across disturbing behaviour, report or block the person.
How can I keep my account secure?
  • Choose a password of at least 10 characters that you don’t use on other sites.
  • On shared devices, don’t tick “Keep me signed in”, and tap Log out when you’re done. When you log out, your other NikahDM tabs in the same browser are closed too.
  • If you suspect you are still logged in on another device, change your password under Settings › Security; your sessions on other devices will be closed.

Settings, language and privacy

Online status, language, cookies and account actions

What do the Online, Busy and Hidden statuses do?

Choose one under Settings › Privacy:

  • Online: while you are on the site, other members see you as “Online”; when you’re not, your last login date is shown.
  • Busy: while you are on the site you appear as “Busy”; when you’re not, your last login date is shown. You keep receiving messages; no feature is restricted.
  • Hidden: that you are online and your last login date are never shown to any member; you don’t appear in the “Online members” filter.

In all three statuses your profile stays visible, and messaging, “Read” status and your profile visits work normally. Hidden does not hide profile visits.

Can I change my gender?

Yes, under Settings › Account › Gender. There is no wait for the first change; for the next change you need to wait 7 days from the last change.

Before changing, you are asked to confirm the consequences:

  • Discover shows you different members based on your new details.
  • Your old conversations are not deleted, but you can no longer send messages in conversations with people who are now the same gender as you.
  • Only profile answers that don’t fit your new gender (e.g. Headscarf / Niqab) are removed.
How do I change the site language?

Choose it from Language in the menu that opens when you tap your profile picture, or under Settings › Language. Before logging in, use the flags at the top of the page.

The site is available in English, Français, العربية, Bahasa Indonesia and Türkçe. Your choice is saved to your account, so the same language opens when you log in on another device. When you change the language, the page you are on reopens in the chosen language. Texts that members write themselves are not translated.

How do I freeze my account and reopen it?

Under Settings › Account actions, tap Freeze my account, enter your password and tick the confirmation box.

  • Your profile does not appear in Discover or in lists.
  • You cannot send or receive messages; others see you as “Unavailable account”.
  • Your sessions on all devices are closed immediately.
  • Your data is not deleted.

To reopen it, log in with your email address and password and confirm on the “Reopen your account” screen. If you choose “Cancel”, your account stays frozen.

Can I delete my account permanently?

Permanent account deletion is not available yet, which is why the “Delete my account” button in Settings is currently disabled. If you don’t want to use your account, you can freeze it for now; a frozen account’s profile is not shown to other members. Settings › Account actions

How do I change my cookie preferences?

Use the “Cookie Preferences” link at the bottom of every page, or the “Manage preferences” button under Settings › Privacy.

  • Necessary cookies (session, security, keeping you signed in, language choice and saving this preference) are always on.
  • Analytics and Marketing cookies are used only if you allow them. The site currently does not use any analytics or marketing cookies; your choice will apply if they are added in the future.
Who can see my profile?

Only members who are logged in, of the opposite gender and with no block between you can see your profile. Visitors who are not logged in cannot see profile pages or photos. Even if you share your profile link, only members who meet these rules can open it. The site’s staff can see profiles and main photos for moderation.

If you freeze your account, your profile is not shown to any member.
